About Us
Bonnie P. Humphrey is in private practice with an office in Minot, North Dakota, but takes cases throughout the state and in Minnesota.  She is licensed in North Dakota, federal district court in North Dakota, and in Minnesota.  She developed her unique style of hands-on practice over many years of exploring what worked best for clients overall, what gave them the best understanding of the legal system, and what solutions actually worked over the long haul, as opposed to a “quick-fix” method.

Bonnie is a former child support attorney who was awarded the “Outstanding Individual” Award at the Family Support conference in 1997.  She has also served North Dakota as a legal aid attorney, which developed and rounded her skills and background in areas involving family matters, public benefits for clients, social security disability, and services to seniors.  She was the past President of the Family Law Section for 2010, and a current member.  Bonnie is a member and past Secretary for the Ward County Bar Association, a current member of the American Bar Association, the American Bar Association Family Law Section, the State Bar Association of North Dakota,  and the Minnesota Bar Association, since 1992.  She is also a member of the Solo and Small Firm Practice Section in Minnesota.

Before Hiring An Attorney

You may be facing all sorts of difficult issues within your family such as a breakdown in communication, and you may be thinking about a divorce or separation. Maybe you live with your partner, but are not married and have children together.

It may be that you have children with your ex-spouse or ex-significant other, but you cannot agree on an issue regarding parenting the children. The Humphrey Law Office, P. C. can support you through all aspects of these complicated legal issues associated with the transitions you are facing, so that you can make the best decisions for you, and your loved ones.

You may want to explore a nonconfrontational and constructive method to  resolve issues and may have heard about collaborative law or mediation and want to know more. Ideally, you seek the “win-win” if possible, a solution that serves the interest of the whole family.  Bonnie has a mediation certification in civil litigation and family law, as well as special education, through North Dakota’s Conflict Resolution Center.

Or, you may find yourself in a difficult situation, where you know that there is no agreement that will work, but you are open to being supported and guided through the court process in a dignified and common sense way that respects your rights and your concerns. Whatever your situation, we have the skills and experience to provide professional and caring representation for you and any children involved.
